Description

This easy creamed cabbage and ground beef casserole is a quick, creamy, low-cost dinner with major comfort food vibes. Perfect for busy nights.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 head green cabbage, shredded
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 tsp xanthan gum (or 1/2 tbsp cornstarch)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat.

2. Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent.

3. Stir in shredded cabbage and cook until wilted.

4. Season with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

5. Add butter and stir until melted, then pour in heavy cream.

6. Sprinkle xanthan gum and simmer until sauce thickens.

7. Transfer to a greased baking dish and bake at 375°F for 10 minutes.

8. Optional: Top with shredded cheese before baking.

Notes

Make it ahead and refrigerate up to 2 days.

Freezes well—skip the cheese until ready to bake.

Swap beef for turkey or add spinach to boost veggies.
